We’re excited to share the sweet story behind Fruitcakes by Deb and introduce
you to the wonderful people who made it all happen.

The story began in 1989 when Gerald (my dad) challenged Deb (my mom) to create a fruitcake that stood out from the rest. Deb accepted the challenge and crafted a recipe using only fresh and dried fruits, avoiding the typical candied fruits. Her initial batches received rave reviews from family and friends, leading her to make fruitcakes to sell at a local craft bazaar — which sold out quickly.

Word spread about these exceptional fruitcakes, and they were featured in local news outlets and Midwest Living magazine. Today, Fruitcakes by Deb ships nationwide across the United States, bringing this unique, handcrafted tradition to your table.

My name is Lauren and my husband is Philip! We both grew up in Shipshewana, Indiana, and moved to Lafayette in 2010 — go Boilers! We currently live in the Greater Lafayette area with our triplet daughters: Lily, Lola, and Luxtyn. Like their Grammy Deb, our daughters have developed a passion for baking and sharing treats with others.

In 2024, the triplets launched their own baking business, Triple L’s, creating a new treat each month to sell locally. In 2025, our family began the process of becoming officially certified to produce, sell, and ship Deb’s renowned fruitcake recipe — Fruitcakes by Deb.

Having grown up baking and selling these fruitcakes, I am excited to carry on
this cherished family tradition with my own family.
